Preparation
Remove Hair
If you shave, please try to do so 12 hours prior to allow time for your skin to settle.
If you wax, please time this at least 48 hours prior to your appointment and please ensure all wax residue is removed prior to coming.
Exfoliate
Please shower and exfoliate at least 2 hours prior to your tan, it will provide a more long lasting result and ensures a smooth, clean surface to apply the tan.
Please pay attention to elbows, knees, ankles, chest, underarms and problem dry areas when exfoliating.
Avoid
The entire 24 hours prior coming for your tan, avoid using bar soaps, high pH shower products, oil based products or in-shower moisturisers.
Please avoid having a hot shower or vigorous exercise just before you come for you tan.
Moisturise
The more you condition and moisturise your skin in the days prior to your appointment, the better result you will have.
Please however, come to your appointment with no moisturiser, deodorant & perfume on your skin.
Prioritise Hydration
We all know drinking water is important for the health of your skin cells, but did you know it will also help your tan last longer, fade better and give you a radiant glow!
Wear
Please wear loose fitting dark clothing to your appointment. Think Pj's, robe, loose cotton dress. The softer the better.
Avoid anything tight like gym tights, jeans, tops with straps.
Skin Conditions
If you have eczema, psoriasis, dry skin, sunburn, obvious tan lines or peeling skin we cannot guarantee a perfectly even tan.
Please detail this in your booking notes so we can discuss with you the best option of solution.
Medications
If you take any type of skin medications (Roaccutane for example) or Thyroid Medications please detail this in your booking notes, we often find these medications are drying to the skin so we can discuss with you the best option of solution.
Band-aids & Tape
If you have recently used booby tape, strapping tape or band-aids on your skin please go over these areas thoroughly when scrubbing. Sticky invisible residue will often remain for weeks after on your skin and can cause patchiness around those areas when tanning.
Too busy?
We get it, time is precious and you may not have time to follow all these instructions. We won't judge. Although these are our tried and tested ways to get the most out of your tan, we stock a range of awesome solutions that suit all different levels of skincare regimes.
Aftercare
Shower
After your development time is up, shower quickly for 45 secs, with luke warm water, do not use hot water, it stops the development of tan actives.
Don’t use soap, shower gels, scrubs, shampoos or loofers during the first 24 hours after your treatment.
Pat Dry
Pat your skin dry.
Do not rub or scrub your skin.
Tan Gone?
It will appear that most of your tan has gone down the drain, this is just excess bronzer, do not be alarmed. Most tans take a full 12-24 hours to develop. If you have any streaks or imperfections in your tan, do not scrub, this is excess bronzer that will come off with your 2nd shower and as the tan develops.
Moisturise
Avoid moisturising in the first 12 hours after your tan to ensure there isn't a barrier inhabiting the solution developing. After this, the more you moisturise your skin in, the better your tan will last.
Prioritise Hydration
We all know drinking water is important for the health of your skin cells, but did you know it will also help your tan last longer, fade better and give you a radiant glow!
Avoid Chlorine
Chlorine and Salt water will greatly reduce the life of your tan. We suggest avoiding these in the first 24 hours of your tan, and after this applying a water proof sunscreen to protect your tan when swimming.
Exercise
For the 24 hours following your Spray Tan it is suggested to avoid ALL swimming, saunas and vigorous exercise as sweating can inhibit the development of your tan.
Avoid Soaking
Avoid soaking in the bath or long hot showers as this will shorten the life of your tan. This is a great options for when you are at the end of your tan and want to remove it.
Active Ingredients
If you are using active ingredients on your face (retinoids, vitamin A etc) these can fade your tan almost immediately.
A great way around this is to time your active use around your spray tan and investing in a good face tanning mist.
Extending
After day 5 a good tan extender is suggested if you wish to prolong your colour.
After day 6, exfoliate with a soft body polish/mitt on a daily basis, to help your skin absorb even more moisture, this also helps the tan fade naturally, rather than in patches.
